The former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was in critical exhausting mode before getting thrashed in the biggest upset of 2019.
Notably, the then-undefeated stalwart AJ locked horns against heavy underdog Andy Ruiz Jr. as a substitute fighter. However, the well-crafted fists of Ruiz shocked the jam-packed crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York and sent a spark through the boxing world by a seventh-round stoppage defeat of the then-champion.
Recently, a rare clip of this match displaying a ringside view of Anthony Joshua surfaced on Twitter. In this particular video, AJ appeared sitting in his corner and listening to the directions given by his trainer.

Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. I and II
The British star stepped inside the ring as the crowd’s favorite. Per expectation, the winner of the fight was almost clear. The spectators were most likely gathered to witness the victory of Joshua.
However, in the initial rounds, both fighters went toe-to-toe with a slight edge for the champion because of his stature advantage.
Interestingly, the fight opened in the third round when Joshua unloaded the first knockdown combination of left and right. To everyone’s surprise, it ignited the demon inside ‘Destroyer’ and he barely took time to recover.
Then, the Mexican heavyweight, Andy Ruiz Jr., fought back with all guns blazing and turned the tables. He scored two-consecutive knockdowns in the same round. However, AJ tried to recover in the 4th and 5th rounds but could not defend against the storming wrath of the challenger. And finally, Ruiz Jr, ended the showdown in the seven-round with two-more knockdowns.
It was the maiden world championship title for any Mexican heavyweight. Joshua was totally exhausted and hurt. He accepted his loss and came back for the rematch a few months later.
