Muhammad Ali is a name that will forever resonate in the world of boxing. He is a trailblazer who revolutionized the art of trash-talking and forced the addition of innovative moves named Ali shuffle and rope-a-dope in the ‘sweet science’ lexicon. But that’s just his contribution to the world of prizefighting. Much more noteworthy is his selfless dedication to advocating for civil rights and humanitarian causes.
We are talking about a guy who threw his Olympic gold medal into the Ohio River because of the injustices he faced as a black man. Not to forget, he even changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali to remind American society of the 60s of its racist roots. Courageous to a fault inside and outside the ring, Muhammad Ali has left behind a legacy that is worth emulating for generations to come.
Recently, Muhammad Ali’s daughter Maryum Ali took up the mantle to keep Ali’s legacy alive through a “two-hour class” about her father. “I’ll be teaching a two-hour class soon about my father, and as I have been preparing, I have felt his spirit. I miss him so much. I’m excited to include in the presentation what his eyes saw in America and what his ears heard as a child up to adulthood; events that shaped his beliefs, attitudes and ultimately his decisions,” she wrote on X.
