Though his lifestyle may not be as comparable to the uber-luxurious one of his former promoter and mentor, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Gervonta Davis does know a thing or two about style and design. Professionally active for a decade, he has made enough to afford himself and his family the best that money can buy. Like many A-listed sports celebrities, ‘Tank’ also seems to nurture a liking for bespoke products that easily synch with his aura and persona.

A few months ago, Los Angeles, California-based Sheron Barber, reportedly a self-made fashion designer, uploaded a video on YouTube. It showcased how he prepared personalized headgear, Louis Vuitton bags, and even a pair of gloves for Gervonta Davis. And the champion reportedly liked it so much that he even used them during one of his matches. The Camden, New Jersey-born designer even shared it upon receiving a call from Floyd Mayweather!

Gervonta Davis shared the minute-long clip through his Instagram Story as well. So Sheron Barber shared how he whipped up a 55-centimeter Birkin speed bag and set of customer boxing gloves for Gervonta Davis.

He narrated the process of making the items: “I started off by cutting up a Louis Vuitton midnight Eclipse garment bag, and I used some Gator. Then, we had to construct custom patterns for the gloves, for the bags, and for the headgear. The inside of the glove needs to be soft, so I use perforated leather. One of the real challenges here is making sure the gloves are made in an artisanal quality but still durable enough so that they’re functional.

Later, he highlighted the finer points of his favorite piece, the headgear. Then Barber shared how the work impressed boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. The undefeated former champion immediately called the fashion designer and informed him that he, too, needed a few for himself. Finally, encouraging viewers to look at the speed bag and the gloves, Sheron Barber said he received an opportunity to glove up Davis and had the privilege to sit on the ringside of his match.

It’s unclear which match ‘Tank’ wore Barber’s custom gloves, though. Given the time the clip came, it appears to be the Ryan Garcia fight. However, from the fleeting footage of the fight towards the end of Barber’s video, it seems to be last year’s Rolando Romero bout.

Resuming his rhythm, Gervonta Davis

Anyways, as far as the champion is concerned, professionally, he reached new heights. He defeated Hector Luis Garcia in January during the third title defense. Then he knocked down much-fancied Ryan Garcia in their big match on April 22. However, on the personal front, he suffered a setback. A court decided he needed to serve a jail term for a 2020 road crash case. As a result, ‘Tank’ had to spend 44 days in prison. Now out of prison, recent clips show him back in the training camp. There’s barely a month left before the year ends. Fans should hopefully see their favorite boxer back in the ring by the early months of next year.
