Scott Fitzgerald has been sentenced to 46 weeks in prison, for assaulting a man, Leevi Francis outside the Grand Junction Inn in Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, UK. Fitzgerald is a 2014 Commonwealth gold medalist and also held the British Super Welterweight title for a year. The landlady of the pub, Kristy Allen told the authorities that Fitzgerald was a regular customer and there were times when he became a little too aggressive and the pub authorities had to ask the boxing champion to leave the premise.
A similar thing took place on November 27, 2022, when Fitzgerald was under the influence of alcohol and was “bouncing around the pub“. The landlady kicked him out.
In the most recent incident that took place outside the Grand Junction, Fitzgerald started attacking a man, and that’s when Leevi Francis intervened. The former British Boxing champion punched Francis down to the ground.

According to the boxing reporter, Michael Benson, Fitzgerald is also “facing three separate assault charges and a charge of rape.”

Furthermore, the fans are disappointed as Fitzgerald became a hero in the public’s eye after his Anthony Fowler bout. Before this, he also spent a night in jail in 2020, for some other reason. But now the fans have been left disappointed as his life spirals out of control, and many hoped that the boxer learns a lesson during his time in prison.

The Fighting Spirit wrote that it is quite underwhelming news as Fitzgerald is definitely the best fighter in his division currently.
A damn shame, was easily the best at 154 pound in the UK and would be a world title challenger at this time

One fan, Truth always wins, wished the best for the boxer, and felt quite sad about this unfortunate situation.
Very sad, demise of a very talented boxer…. boxing should not let him drift away into obscurity

George wrote that they fell in love with the boxer after the Fowler fight. And the fighter would’ve easily won the European title if he had more time. But they also showed pity for what actually took place.

Ffs man. This guy gave me one of the greatest moments in boxing when he floored Fowler. He could've easily gone on to win a European title at the very least. Sad how life has turned out for him..
