WBC President is appalled at the state of Ibeth Zamora

Mauricio Sulaiman, the WBC president, expressed sadness over Ibeth Roca Zamora’s personal loss as she recently lost her mother. Sulaiman prayed for Zamora’s quick acceptance and strength during these tough times.

Furthermore, his message conveyed how dear Zamora is to him. He feels agonized by the fact that she has to go through the loss of her mother and father. 

He wrote in his tweet, “A very sad day for a very dear person. Ibette Roca Zamora lost her mother who already joined her father who also left recently. We pray to God for prompt resignation and strength in these difficult times.” (translated by Google)

Her parents were seed merchants and grocery suppliers. The boxer used to help them with their work.

Another loss that shook Zamora

The fight took place on 10 September, 2023. In their fight, Kenia Enriquez won a ten-round fight against Ibeth Zamora and secured the interim WBC flyweight title. The fight took place in La Paz, Mexico, and Imagen TV broadcasted it. Right from the start, Kenia Enriquez controlled the fight with her jab and left hooks. Zamora, a former champion in two divisions, couldn’t match Enriquez’s power.

In the later rounds, Zamora tried to land right hands but failed to turn the tide. She also had a nearly swollen-shut right eye. Enriquez stuck to his strategy and won unanimously with scores of 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91. The win extended Enriquez’s fourteen-fight winning streak and made her the mandatory challenger for the WBC title.
