Ahead of the fight, in an interview, Haney recently stated that Lomachenko would fight dirty against him and that he was prepared for the same. However, Haney also stated that he was “levels above this guy” and wanted to “make a statement“. Maybe, Haney wants to start delivering his statement from the final face-off itself and hence the surprising shove. Anyway, following the incident, while a number of fans showed concern for Lomachenko, others condemned Haney. “Hope Loma isn’t hurt from this. It’s very easy to suffer a cervical sprain,” said one fan.
