After 13 years at the top, the undisputed minimumweight champion, Seniesa Estrada has finally hung up her gloves. The undefeated champion has been the epitome of women’s boxing since her debut way back in 2011.
Estrada retires with a record of 26-0 including 9 KOs with titles in two different weight classes. She also holds the record for the fastest KO in women’s boxing history, when she knocked out Miranda Adkins in just 7 seconds. ‘Super Bad’ posted a heartfelt letter on her Instagram account to announce her retirement and the boxing world was shocked yet grateful for everything that Estrada has done for the sport.

The Los Angeles native thanked everyone who had been with her for 23 years. She further extended her thanks to family, friends, Bob Arum and Top Rank. Estrada signed with Top Rank in July 2022 which started her march toward the undisputed title which she achieved in August 2023 after defeating Leonela Yudica.
The 32-year-old then let her fans know that it was not an easy decision. “Only God knows how long I’ve been contemplating this decision. Physically and mentally, I can’t continue anymore,” Estrada said. She further stated that she has no regrets and is at peace with her decision as she wants to continue her life without boxing.

Estrada was super grateful that her name and work meant something to people and she was able to inspire a whole generation. ” I know that I will shine bright at whatever I choose to do next. With love forever, Superbad…,” wrote Estrada as she bid farewell to this sport.

The unexpected retirement sent shockwaves down the boxing world. While the other side of the fanbase thanked Super Bad for everything she has done. It was an emotional outbreak as even Hollywood star Danny Trejo wished her the best. The Machete star was one of the first to comment as he wrote, “Champ! Congratulations on your 26-0 and wishing you the best on your new journey!” He was quite shocked as the announcement came out of nowhere but congratulated Estrada for her brilliant career.

In an unexpected turn of events, Estrada’s long-time rival Heather Hardy also wished her the best for the future. She wrote, “Oh she did it right 👏 (clapping in retired fighter) 👏🏼.” A few months ago, Hardy was forced to retire from boxing because of a brain injury. She was glad that the 26-0 boxer listened to her body and did not repeat her mistakes.

WBC featherweight champion, Skye Nicolson wished Estrada the best for her future and wrote, “A trailblazer 🙌 been a pleasure watching your journey! Undefeated, undisputed Superbad 😍🔥👏 all the best wherever life takes you next champ 👑,” thanking the 26-0 boxer for changing the dynamic of the sport.
Rising pro boxing star, Lupita Medina mentioned how Seniesa Estrada has been an inspiration for her to take up boxing. “You have helped me become the boxer I am today 🙁 … thank you ❤️,” she wrote.
Apart from athletes and celebrities, boxing fans were also affected by this news as one fan wrote, “Definitely a world class champ and a legend,” implying that Estrada has done enough to be remembered for the rest of her life.

As Estrada herself said, that one aspect of her life might be over, but it is the beginning of her new life. A life that she will enjoy to a complete extent. And after everything she has given to the boxing, she deserves it now.
