Unified heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua, has opened up about the sport of boxing. The Londoner spoke about his decision to take up the sport and why few understand it. He also explains what he is ready for every time he fights.
Joshua is still fresh off a fantastic performance against Kubrat Pulev, where the Englishman dominated the veteran to silence the doubters. Since then, the Englishman has gotten closer to the Tyson Fury undisputed fight.

However, ahead of that fight, fans have got an interesting insight into the champion’s mentality. Speaking on his YouTube channel, as part of the documentary of the Pulev fight, Joshua explained what boxing means to him.
He said, “Some people may not understand it, and I realize in this life is that 99 percent of the population are civilized people. The job I’ve chosen is for the uncivilized. This is a sport of combat and war.”
These comments showed that ‘AJ’ believes he is part of the one percent of the population who are a different breed. It also showed that the champion understands the risks involved in the sport.

Anthony Joshua says he loves the sport
The two-time heavyweight champion didn’t stop there. Joshua explained why he took up the sport despite knowing what it entailed. He said, “We’re not civilized people, we’re warriors, and I love it.” Though other fighters may disagree with Joshua’s choice of words, they will agree with him calling boxers warriors.
Joshua has lived up to this tag in the past. He has had some fiery encounters over the years. Most notably was his fight against Dillian Whyte, where there was genuine bad blood between the pair.

However, Joshua showed his warrior side and knocked out Whyte. Despite this, the champion has matured and now reserves his ‘uncivilized’ self only for the ring. So we may never get to the old Joshua again.
