Just last year, the world was buzzing with rumors about an exhibition boxing match between the UFC superstar Conor McGregor and Logan Paul. The Ambani family of India was reportedly planning to orchestrate this highly anticipated showdown on Indian soil. However, it seems this fight may never happen as Dana White has already made a ruling regarding Conor McGregor’s next fight. According to White, it’s either the Octagon or nowhere for the Notorious.

Although Conor McGregor had initially announced that he would face Logan Paul, it has now become clear that UFC President Dana White is not on board with the idea of a boxing match. However, McGregor doesn’t seem like he’s planning to breach the contract outside the UFC. But that doesn’t mean he’s not looking at newer avenues.

Conor McGregor is out looking for side quests

In an interview with The Schmo after the KnuckleMania V press conference in Philadelphia, Conor McGregor opened up about his future in combat sports. Speaking about the potential fight with Logan Paul, McGregor revealed that he had been presented with a unique offer that could potentially see both athletes squaring off. As the conversation continued, Conor McGregor was asked, “You said it was Logan, not Jake?” To which the former UFC dual champion replied, “Logan! It was always Logan—two TKO fighters.”

He revealed that the Ambani family understood the business dynamics of the fight. Conor McGregor, a UFC fighter, and Logan Paul, a YouTuber/WWE wrestler, both under the parent company TKO Holdings fighting each other would have attracted massive attention from fans of both organizations. The potential to tap into India’s booming market was another aspect he saw the event as a huge draw. And a big event it would have been if it were not for Dana White. So what’s next for the head honcho of the BKFC?

Like I said, I’m more inclined now for this influencer or f**king, whatever you call it,” the 36-year-old confessed. Why, you ask? “Because it’s astronomical money. It’s astronomical—the figures.” So it seems Conor McGregor is now planning to enter the influencer boxer arena because of the massive payday the avenue promises. And who is he looking to fight there?

“Here is Jake, Logan, and f***ing KSI. I like the three of these guys. And then all the other ones that are tussling around,” he stated confidently. And the reason he is now interested in fighting influencer boxers? “It’s an interesting little side pocket branch,” admitted the Irishman. “Stuff it down me sock and out I go!” There you go. Despite having an ongoing contract with the UFC, Conor McGregor still seems to be out looking for the big payday that can guarantee him that “astronomical money” as he calls it.

Despite Conor McGregor’s apparent enthusiasm and hope about this potential fight with Logan Paul, the talks are still ongoing and nothing is set in stone.

The Uncertain Future

Dana White, the UFC president, made it clear that he would not support Conor McGregor competing outside of the UFC since he still has two remaining fights under his UFC contract. In fact, he was hoping for the Mystic Mac’s return to the UFC this year. This may have been disappointing for McGregor on some level.

Not very long ago Conor McGregor, Jake Paul, and Logan Paul shared the same bus ride while being escorted to Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. However, the journey took a turn when McGregor decided to confront the Paul brothers for not taking the bait. A clip shared by ‘themaclifeofficial’ captured their interaction inside the bus. In the video, the Notorious can be heard saying to Logan Paul, “I’m going to slap the head off the two of you and KSI. You are nixers to me. Do you understand that? You’re side jobs.” However, his aggression was met with a reality check as the WWE star lashed back and said, “You can’t even do your main job. How are you gonna do your side job?”

Later in an interview with the famed MMA journalist, Jake Noecker, when Conor McGregor was asked if he was going to fight Logan Paul next, or if the fighting community could see him in BKFC or UFC next, ‘The Notorious’ replied, “BKFC, Saturday night, baby. Live from Wells Fargo Center,” pointing to the BKFC KnuckleMania V scheduled for the 25th. It seems Dana White’s decision to hold McGregor to his UFC contract has forced the Irishman to a corner. However, he is still hopeful one among the many influencer boxers will agree to a fight, and with Dana White’s blessings, he will get the big payday he is looking for.
