“Tyson Invited Him After the Fight”: Following Several Failed Negotiations, Tyson Fury’s Manager Explains How the Undisputed Oleksandr Usyk Fight Came to Fruition

Fans have long been waiting for an ultimate clash between two of the biggest names in the heavyweight division. On one side, the WBC heavyweight champion of the world, Tyson Fury, had defeated Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora, and Dillian Whyte. On the other, Oleksandr Usyk stands tall as the undefeated WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight world champion with equally ferocious prior opponents. The great news is–these two behemoths are scheduled to meet in the ring in late December.

However, Fury had long been the subject of criticism from both fans and experts for avoiding Usyk. Previously, talks of these two clashing in the ring had fallen apart, giving credence to the accusations from the boxing world. The same accusations escalated when the Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight came to light. Nonetheless, Fury made good on his word as the Usyk fight was announced later this year in December. So, Tyson Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, recently explained how the fight became a reality. Hint–It’s mostly because of Tyson Fury!

Spencer Brown claims Tyson Fury spoke to Oleksandr Usyk

While speaking to Boxing King Media, Brown revealed they are not worried about anyone’s objections or opinions about the fight. So, they scheduled the fight on 23rd December later this year. “We are going for the 23rd, so we’re not bothered about anybody else, really nobody. Why would we be?” said Brown. However, Brown wasn’t done–he also revealed something no one would have expected.

Brown went on to confess that Tyson Fury spoke to Oleksandr Usyk and invited him and his family to a weekend getaway. “You see, Tyson and Usyk spoke to each other…Tyson invited him after the fight to Morcombe with his kids to have a weekend away,” said Brown. While the fans are excited about the fight in December, Fury still has to come out unscathed from the fight with Francis Ngannou.

Brown on a rematch clause between Fury and Usyk

During the same interview, the reporter probed Spencer further about a rematch clause. In response, Spencer explained that it would depend on if the fighters come out without any injuries. “Everything is down to how both fighters come out of the fight. Uninjured, you know, that’s always got to be taken into consideration,” said Brown.

Brown also confirmed the contract between Fury and Usyk does have a rematch clause, and a rematch would happen if either fighter asks for it. However, he wasn’t sure if the rematch would have the titles on the line. “The rematch will most definitely take place. It’s been contracted. Whether all the belts will be on the line for the second fight is doubtful,” Brown said. 

After months of back and forth, the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight finally became a reality. The Englishman has already undergone rigorous preparation in order to be in peak condition. What’s more, the revelation from Fury’s manager offers a unique perspective into how this epic clash became a reality.
