Anthony Joshua will be entering the ring against Robert Helenius tonight at the O2 Arena in London. The fight that was hardly anticipated by folks, comes in the light of his clash against Dillian Whyte failing to materialize. The latter tested positive for a drug test, thereby losing the chance to fight against his long-standing opponent. However, the fight with Robert still holds grave importance in AJ’s career.

AJ currently holds no titles in his weight class and has not fought with a notable fighter for a while now. Under these conditions, if he were to lose the bout against Helenius, his career would take a huge hit. The boxing community has been quick to speak about the stakes, this matchup holds for him. Joining this discourse is a famous promoter.

According to Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, AJ is at a stage in his career where he is as vulnerable as a fighter could be. He further claimed that AJ could be easily knocked out by any heavyweight boxer.

Speaking at the Up Front with Simon Jordan podcast, the promoter said, “Joshua is liable to get beaten by anybody at the moment. If anybody hits him on the chin, he will go,”

He further spoke about how AJ is seemingly afraid of counters to an opponent’s rapid punches. Warren said, “When you watch him now, as he’s throwing a shot – and he’s a big puncher, he’s pulling back and away. He wants to get out of range and is terrified of the counter.”

Will we get an AJ vs Tyson Fury fight?

Elaborating on the possibility of getting a thrilling matchup between the heavyweight boxers, Frank Warren said, “If I were Anthony Joshua’s promoter, I’d make him fight Tyson Fury.

He further said, “I even would’ve put him in against Fury two months after he fought Oleksandr Usyk.” Launching another set of scathing attacks on Joshua, he said that AJ would suffer a detrimental loss against Fury. And that would be psychologically devastating for the fighter.

The promoter also stated that AJ doesn’t want to challenge any heavyweights carrying belts, and questioned his motive.

Warren said, “So if he’s not going to fight Usyk, the man with most of the belts, and he doesn’t want to fight the holder of the WBC belt, Tyson Fury, then what does he want to do?” A valid question in fact is asked.
