Can Anthony Joshua ever match Tyson Fury's prowess, or is he destined to always be second best?

It was a clash for the ultimate prize, gold in the heavyweight division. A win could also possibly open the gates for another task, collecting the remaining straps. But for a record 96,000 fans, the fight only meant one thing—fireworks and relentless action. And Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois didn’t disappoint as they put their bodies on the line.

Joshua secured the win via knockout in round five, as he put on a splendid display and took home the IBF crown. The fight offered fans everything, from explosive shots to a devastating knockout, making the Wembley Stadium burst with cheers and applause. Making the event a bit more special was Conor McGregor, who not only graced the arena but also sat on the commentators’ desk, giving the fans a delightful surprise and watching the action unfold closely.

Dubois came all guns blazing and looked like a veteran, as he came forward and extended his jab to push Joshua on the back foot. But Dubois also received warnings for leading with the head. However, his strategy worked wonders, as his huge overhand right caught Joshua lacking and made him take a knee in the first round itself. Dubois kept on the pressure and lined him up with big barrages on the ropes. Joshua’s lower guard and hesitancy to unload huge punches made him vulnerable to blows, which Dubois exploited with his sudden forward bursts.

Dubois’ southpaw stance and his left jabs did a number on Joshua, which, when coupled with his forward pressure and ring generalship, affected Joshua’s ability to absorb punches. In addition, Dubois’ use of uppercuts during exchanges sealed the deal for him, with Joshua barely hanging on in the fight. It was a matter of time when Joshua would give in to Dubois’ ruthless pressure and imposing strength. It came in the fifth round, when Dubois landed a sharp right, during Joshua’s onslaught, which dropped him face flat on the canvas.

Fans laud Dubois’ greatest performance to date

Ryan Garcia expressed his candid opinion of the fight as he fictionalized Tyson Fury and Joshua’s fight in his head. He wrote, “In my heart and soul I believe that Tyson fury would play with Joshua just my humble opinion.” Fury and Joshua have been linked to a fight for a long time now. But that might expose Joshua’s further inadequacies in defense. Garcia, 26, then added in a separate post, “I’m starting to feel bad for Joshua.” With this loss, Joshua’s run at the top might have come to an end, and it might be his last hurrah for a title shot.

Sergio Mora had an amusing take, as he believed Dubois might have to be cautious about his approach in the big fights. He declared, “Knocking down a former champion early in a fight can be a gift and a curse to an opponent that hasn’t fought on the championship level!! Tread lightly, “TRIPLE D!!”” Dubois ran the risk of either getting overconfident or running his tank empty early and giving Joshua a window to come back in the later rounds with better energy levels. Alternatively, it could have given him a psychological advantage.

Alycia Baumgardner praised Dubois for stepping up to the occasion and putting on a show. She penned, “Listen, Dubois ain’t no h*e! He knows what he stepped up to do!” Dubois banked on his strengths and executed his game plan perfectly, racking up the famous ring in the process.

The non-stop action swayed Jake Paul, who showed his love for boxing. He announced, “BROOOOO I LOVE BOXING #JoshuaDubois.” The fight didn’t last long and had punches flying out throughout the fight, again putting the heavyweight division in focus because of the brutal knockouts.

Shawn Porter expressed his shock about the result, and noted, “Damn.” Not only was Dubois the underdog in the fight, but very few gave him the chance to produce such a dominating display. As a result, he successfully defended his IBF title.
