Finally, there was light at the end of the tunnel. Just when the cheers and joy of millions of boxing fans were at a feverish high, came the crashing news of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk‘s ‘Ring of Fire’ getting doused. However, a new update may finally bring some relief to the followers.
Reportedly, an injury that ‘The Gypsy King’ received during a sparring session has led to the fight’s postponement. Subsequent official statements confirmed the entire February 17 showdown was being tabled for a later date. Expectedly, the following hours saw a back-and-forth erupt between both the leading camps. Now, putting things to rest, both champions have received a fresh itinerary. Interestingly, it’s something both Fury and Usyk might follow for good. Otherwise, the new arrangement has enough space to be remodeled into new lineups.

H.E. Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of the General Authority of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, joined Ariel Helwani to shed some light on the new terms. Incidentally, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk joined him in the special episode of the ‘MMA Hour’.
While acknowledging ‘The Gypsy King’s cut, he said that he has a new deal for both champions. “I put something clear now for all the two magnificent champion for the ‘fight of the century’; we have a delayed times the last call we can deliver this fight, and I choose the day it is the 18 of May; we delayed it for the 18 of May,” H.E. Turki Alalshikh said.
However, he also made it obvious what would happen if either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk changed their minds. He said, “I am I am guarantee for the both of the fighters 10 Millions if some someone escape from the fight; this is the first thing, and the second thing, I guarantee big fight in the same night for the another one.”
But what would happen if the unthinkable happened? H.E. Alalshikh had a solution for that as well.
Others to Standby
So on May 18, it shall be Fury versus Usyk, as planned. However, in the scenario of Usyk not wanting the fight, Anthony Joshua will receive an invitation. But if ‘The Gypsy King’ takes a step back, the option is for the unified champion to call out whomever he deems fit.
“Make the people around the world and the fans know if someone is scared or want to escape from this fight. 18 of May we will have Tyson Usyk, Usyk Tyson. If someone’s scared, if Usyk scared, I will call for Joshua Tyson. If it Tyson scared, I will go. I will call for any fighters Usyk want and it is my in my name, this thing,” he said.
