Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua recently suffered an enormous setback after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time. The British boxer was better in the second match but failed to keep up with Usyk during the later rounds of the fight with the Ukrainian winning via split decision.

This led to many people wondering what was next for AJ. As for Usyk, a potential fight against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was rumored to be scheduled for December. However, it looks like the Gypsy King might be interested in facing Joshua if the fight against The Cat falls through.
In an interview with BT Sport, Fury claimed a fight with Joshua could be on the table. This happened days after the unified champion called off the fight with Fury in December. “I still think people would like to see that fight. So if Oleksandr Usyk doesn’t want the fight for whatever reason, then we’ll go and offer AJ the fight,” said Fury.
‼️ Tyson Fury has declared that he still believes the Anthony Joshua fight can happen in the future. He said: "I still think people would like to see that fight. So if Oleksandr Usyk doesn't want the fight for whatever reason, then we'll go and offer AJ the fight." [@BTSport]

A fight with Joshua makes sense financially for Fury. Both fighters come from England and are currently the biggest stars in boxing.

This will certainly be a super fight even if it isn’t for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Moreover, Usyk’s claim of facing Deontay Wilder instead of Fury has only added fire to the speculation.

Fans have long been calling for a fight between the two British boxers and it almost came to fruition back in 2021 when Joshua was the unified champion. A fight between him and Fury was scheduled but got called off because of contractual obligations Fury had with Deontay Wilder. Instead of Joshua, he had to face The Bronze Bomber for the third time while Joshua took on Usyk.
The fight could certainly help Joshua get back on track after two devastating losses. Moreover, Fury seems more or less interested in making money and retiring from the sport. This fight could be a very viable option for Fury if a fight against Usyk is not confirmed which looks like the case as things are now.
