Tyson Fury’s Next Fight: Two Potential Opponents Named

As per the latest updates, Tyson Fury is going to make his return in July and defend his WBC heavyweight title. Although it has not been confirmed who Fury will actually face in his comeback fight, the names of two potential heavyweights have been disclosed. Recently, there was a prospect of a potential bout between Oleksandr Usyk and ‘The Gypsy King’. However, the bout, unfortunately, came to a standstill since the duo could not agree on material terms beyond the purse split.

As the Ukrainian boxer moved on to face his mandatory challenger, Daniel Dubois, the boxing world wondered about Fury’s next fight in the ring. Well, Mike Coppinger of ESPN has recently announced two possible opponents of Tyson Fury as per his sources. According to Coppinger, Fury would likely return either on the 15th or the 22nd of July.

Tyson Fury to either face Zhilei Zhang or Andy Ruiz Jr. in the ring

Following his recent victory over Joe Joyce, Chinese boxer and the current WBO world interim heavyweight champion Zhilei Zhang called out Tyson Fury. In fact, he believed he could knock out Tyson Fury if the duo shared the ring. In his opinion, Fury lacked a strong chin. Adding weight to Zhang’s willingness to fight Fury, depending on his sources, Coppinger recently informed, “Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. is in the mix for the Fury fight, as is China’s Zhilei Zhang,” as per ESPN.

As per Coppinger, Fury’s comeback fight would likely take place at London’s Wembley Stadium. While Zhang’s manager showed interest in staging Zhang vs. Fury, Coppinger branded Ruiz Jr. “as the most viable available challenger both commercially and competitively for Fury“.  Ruiz Jr. is currently ESPN’s No. 1 heavyweight and No. 7 pound-for-pound boxer.
