Tyson Fury, as several reports suggest, has triggered the rematch clause to fight Oleksandr Usyk again. Last week, the two met in a historic clash at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena. The toe-to-toe fight finally swung in the Ukrainian champion’s favor after he knocked down  ‘The Gypsy King’ in round 9. Though the latter continued to fight till the final bell, it was clear on whose head the undisputed crown would sit. True to his style, insisting that he won the match, Fury attributed altogether peculiar reasons for his loss. The Mancunian made it clear what crossed his mind—a rematch.

But how are the fans soaking up the news? talkSPORT‘s Michael Benson updated his X/Twitter handle with the news. Since then, an array of comments and views have dropped by from fans, random followers, and even naysayers. Per available information, according to Bob Arum, whose Top Rank handles Fury’s promotions in the United States, the rematch could take place either by the end of this year or in the early months of 2025.

Tyson Fury has now officially activated his rematch clause to fight Oleksandr Usyk again next, Bob Arum has confirmed: “That fight will take place either at the end of this year or the beginning of next year in Riyadh,” read Benson’s tweet.

Speaking with talkSPORT, Bob Arum said, “There’s a rematch clause, and Tyson has exercised the rematch clause, and that fight will take place either at the end of the year or the beginning of next year. It will take place again in Riyadh. That is the contract that both fighters have signed.

But what about the opposite end? What did Team Usyk say about the rematch? Fans can heave a sigh of relief. For Oleksandr Usyk and his team are very much taken in by a rematch.

Beat Down or Beat Off

Let’s dive into what some of the fans had to say about the rematch. Will something similar transpire? Or will the Englishman change up his game and surprise his fans?

Nah, this user doesn’t seem to believe that. As per him, ‘The Gypsy King’ is rather approaching the end-road of his career.

Neither does this user seem to retain any optimism for Tyson Fury. The second match would be ruinous for him, as the user suggested, with the new undisputed champion packing off the Mancunian early.

However, this Tyson Fury fan disagrees. They stressed that ‘The Gypsy King’ has only come back stronger in rematches. Seemingly challenging Oleksandr Usyk, the fans checked if he could come out with a similar dazzling display during the rematch.

Then this follower has a suggestion. They believe that for the rematch, Fury should relocate to the United States. Not only that, he should do away with long-time trainers Sugar Hill Stuart and Andy Lee.

Stretching their optimism a bit by hoping for a trilogy fight, this fan thinks that in the rematch, Tyson Fury will be better prepared. He will especially have the wherewithal to tackle Usyk’s powerful overhands.

During the conversation with talkSPORT, the Top Rank honcho added to the intrigue. He suggested an all-British clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may eventually come up by the middle of next year.

It would be too early to sign off on Tyson Fury based on his first career loss. More so, even in the first match, the Mancunian controlled the fight effectively, at least for the first two quarters of the rounds. Instead, sans any titles or belts, he is off any sort of pressure! Thus, it gives him a space to fight in a more relaxed manner. So in a lot of ways, it is the Ukrainian champion who might come off encumbered by the weight of fans’ expectations, defending his newly won belts, retaining his winning streak, and most significantly of all, defending his legacy.

Or, who knows, he might still be the same! Just too good for Tyson Fury.
