In the not-so-filled stadium, Tyson Fury shared his tactical wisdom with DAZN, reflecting on his own bout with Francis Ngannou and providing a crucial game plan for Anthony Joshua. His words resonated with the intensity of the upcoming fight night.

“Me, myself, I’m looking for an explosive fight,” Fury began, setting the tone with his expectations. He then detailed his strategy, emphasizing the effectiveness of a fundamental technique. “I think if Joshua uses the jab, moves his feet, he wins comfortably.” However, he cautioned against complacency, drawing from his own encounter with Ngannou’s unexpected power. “But if he gets involved, he could get tagged like I did.”

Fury openly recounted his experience, admitting a moment of overconfidence. “I tried to jump in with the big power shots, and hit him bang, bang. I was having a lot of success early with the 1-2, and he was taking them to his credit,” he acknowledged, praising Ngannou’s resilience. His candid reflection continued, “so I got a little bit greedy and entered upon the seat of my a*se and my pants. But, hey, that’s boxing.”

Ngannou can’t set up punches?

The interviewer nodded, recognizing Fury’s adaptability, “And you made the adjustments and got the W. That’s boxing as well.” This affirmation segued into Fury’s analysis of Ngannou’s boxing capabilities. “With his limited boxing experience, he doesn’t really have the ability to, after he’s landed and hurt someone, he doesn’t have the ability to set more shots up on an elite-level boxer to get him out of there,” Fury observed.

Despite Ngannou’s formidable presence, Fury contrasted his own ring craft with Joshua’s. “Even on my worst night, he’s not as elusive as I am,” he stated confidently, suggesting that Joshua’s style might be more susceptible to Ngannou’s power. “So he might land on him, and who knows? If he lands on him, and he can’t take the power, if he’s on a seat of his arse like I was. But I’m looking forward to seeing who wins the fight.”
