The two fights between YouTube sensation, Jake Paul, and Tyron Woodley, were shrouded in controversy after fans couldn’t believe that Paul had actually won. The Problem Child would go on to knock out the former UFC champion after Woodley came in as a replacement for Tommy Fury.

The former UFC star, didn’t showed any sign of being a threat to Paul, who ended their second fight in six rounds by landing a thumping eight-hand. The one-punch KO, and the manner in which Woodley fell flat on his face, was pure theatre. Moreover, this led to many fans believing that the knockout was staged and that Woodley took a dive.

Tyron Woodley shares his thoughts on the second Jake Paul fight

After much discussion from fans and boxing fraternity alike, it seemed that the former champ wasn’t keen on addressing this issue. During an interview with MMA fighting, Woodley revealed that he received a call from Paul’s manager, who wanted him to address this. Woodley was shooting the popular Netflix show, Cobra Kai, and told her that he wasn’t interested in engaging with people for fame and clout.

I’m not talking about anything because if they’re talking about me, they’re talking. I don’t have to confront [anybody]. Some people think I’m retired, some people think I threw the fight, some people think I was upset. As long as people are thinking some s** about you, you’re in the clear,” he said

He then added that he didn’t feel like he needed to defend himself but could talk about this issue. Woodley further continued, “I don’t really get to defend myself. You guys should maybe not even try to defend yourself either.’ But I said, ‘Let me sleep on it. If I wake up and I’ve got a change of heart, I’ll let you know.”

Later in the interview, Woodley also revealed that he was doing 14-hour shoots before his bout against Paul. He stated that he had 2 weeks to prepare for the fight, and only trained during breaks. “I had two weeks to get ready and I was filming 14-hour days. When I wrap up on the set of Cobra Kai, I was training at 3:00 in the morning for the Jake Paul fight. Then get up, film all day again and then they let my coach come on set so we could train in between if I didn’t have a scene. I had to do it. I committed to that so I can’t pull out,” Woodley concluded.

Even though he was successful in managing his time for the fight, he wasn’t able to get the job done. Albeit, Woodley currently seems more focused on his acting career, and the Netflix show was certainly a step in the right direction.
