Very few boxers in the sport’s history retired undefeated. But Floyd Mayweather‘s name finds a mention in that list which includes, among others, Joe Calzaghe, Andre Ward, and Rocky Marciano. In a two-decade-long career, he fought some of the biggest names in the business. But none could breach Mayweather Jr.’s outstanding defense. However, it goes without saying that there were a few boxers who offered stiff resistance to Mayweather. In quite a few instances, fans and followers even thought the bout was out of his hands.
Shane ‘Sugar’ Mosley was thirty-nine years old when he faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 1, 2010, at Nevada’s M.G.M. Grand. Though a non-title bout, initially, Mosley looked promising. But soon, the Mayweather magic came into play. Taking full advantage of his counterattacks and reflexes, Mayweather Jr. took the fight to the final round, convincing the judges to award a win unanimously.

But despite the outcome, it goes without saying there were moments in the match that forced a rethink on fans and followers.
@BoxingKingdom14 shared a brief video of the 2010 match. It shows Mosley stunning Mayweather Jr. with a combination involving a body shot followed by a quick straight. But as he did so, the latter locked Mosley’s leading head, used for throwing the straight punch. “Sugar” could be seen struggling to wrest his hands out.
The tweet mentioned, “Floyd Mayweather recognizes he’s hurt and puts Shane Mosley in an arm lock, all within half a second. The fastest thinker you will ever see in a boxing ring. True genius.“

Since it came yesterday, the clip has received over a million reviews. Many fans and followers joined to share their thoughts, while many who had watched the match remembered how they felt.
Fans and followers are in awe of Mayweather Jr.’s sheer ingenuity
@WillBlackmon added that after pulling the fast one, Mayweather Jr. started dominating the fight and eventually won.
Yea but Floyd turned into monster after this hit and went to work!

@88softailherita appreciated Shane Mosley’s technique once mastered by Mike Tyson – jab to the body followed by a straight right.
Jab to the body to set up the power shot upstairs is one of Mike Tyson’s best tricks.

@JamesBecker1999 went down memory lane and mentioned how he initially got angry with ‘The Money’ for engaging in a dubious ploy. But later, he admitted to admiring the latter’s high boxing I.Q.
Remember shouting at my TV for this one, I was pissed but also admired the genius at work.

@CayneGower recollects how, while watching, he thought Mosley’s careful left-right combination would have sealed the bout’s fate. But, undoubtedly, after all these years, it’s pretty justifiable to refer to Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the G.O.A.T.
I truly thought that Sugar was going to win this fight and remember how excited I got when that shot landed. Fast forward all these years and I now have to say they PBF really is the GOAT.

@UNEEK520 believes that the match’s outcome probably could have been different if Mayweather Jr. hadn’t resorted to such tricks. Mosley didn’t get enough time to pull his leading hand out of the latter’s grasp.
I always noticed this, Shane would have been able to drop him if Floyd hadnt reacted so quickly, Mosley didn't even have time to bring his arm back after he punched with that same arm.

@All5tarboy reminisced how, as a sixteen-year-old, Mayweather Jr. and Mosley’s bout changed his perspective on boxing. Only after watching the fights against stalwarts such as Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, and finally, Shane Mosley could he understand ‘T.B.E.’s’ true worth.
I have always admitted I never truly appreciated Floyd's style until the fights he had with De la Hoya, Hatton, Marquez and then this one right here against Mosley. I was 16 and I remember clearly actually clapping after the fight as it reshaped how I saw boxing entirely.

@jamespeer appreciated how ‘The Money’ outmaneuvered Mosley after the brief setback. Instead of avoiding him, he took ‘Sugar’ head-on and gave him a tough fight till the end.
Not only did he weather the storm masterfully when he got caught, he took the fight to Shane in every round thereafter. Didn't run or hide, he stood right in front of Shane and dominated.

A few weeks later, Shane Mosley lost his W.B.A. Super Welterweight title because he failed to defend it against a mandatory challenger. Floyd Mayweather Jr., on the other hand, won the WBC Welterweight title with a win over Victor Ortiz. Titled “Who R U Picking?” the bout was one of the most successful of the time, with pay-per-view earnings in the vicinity of $78 million.
