Manchester City Football Club is one of the most dominating teams in the top flight of English football. With eight league titles, six FA Cups, eight League Cups, six FA Community Shields, and one European Cup Winners’ Cup to back their legacy, this pedestal seemed to be an unshakable abode for the team.
However, the club recently found itself in the midst of controversy. They were alleged to have raked in over 100 violations of financial regulations during a 14-year period. Notably, they won the competition six times during this period. Man City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, came to his team’s defense. But the eccentric Conor Benn refuted his comments.

Talking about the accusations, Guardiola said, “You have to understand that the 19 teams of the Premier League are accusing us without the opportunity to defend ourselves.”

He further added, “We are lucky we live in a society where everybody is innocent until proven guilty. We didn’t have this opportunity. (People say) we are already guilty.”
The Spanish manager also mentioned that the team is ready to accept the consequences if it were proven guilty. Notably, this statement came at a time when he had opened up about shifting teams.
Conor Benn does not agree with Pep Guardiola
Guardiola’s statement confused both the sports fraternity and fans. Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, tweeted about the same.
No they’re not Pep!

This, in turn, caught the eye of boxing’s very own crown prince of controversy, Benn. Additionally, as a fellow Englishman, he responded by stating that not everybody is innocent until proven guilty.

I thought in England you are believed guilty and you must prove your innocence.

Haha beautiful analogy and both will probably pay their way to innocence using expensive lawyering.
— Luke Robinson (@gullychef) February 11, 2023
