David Benavidez and his team sent a big-time offer to ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for a fight. However, a response from the Mexican undisputed champion’s end is still awaited. The WBC (Interim) Super Middleweight champion defended his title against Caleb Plant with élan three months ago. And right from the post-fight interview, he gave a loud shout-out to Alvarez for a fight this year. With the latter not replying to the latest proposal, Benavidez, perhaps vexed, messaged Alvarez, taunting him for an answer.

Michael Benson shared the news yesterday evening. Benavidez’s message read, “Why are you afraid of me?” Since then, over 250k have viewed the message. Many reacted to the boxer’s statement. Quite a few seem to admonish him for displaying overconfidence. At the same time, some did offer some support to Benavidez.

A user named Luis believes that Benavidez is trying his level best, playing around like a he-man. According to Luis, ‘The Mexican Monster’ had signed the contract to fight Morrell before the Caleb Plant bout. Under no circumstance, he planned to fight ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. When pondering who is genuinely scared, Luis says Benavidez is another self-aggrandizer.

User Omar laments that while David Benavidez lines up Instagram messages such as the one to ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, he makes sure there’s no avenue for the followers to post a response. According to Omar, the ship has already sailed as far as the undisputed Super Middleweight champion is concerned. The user says nothing phony about the latest news of Benavidez’s interest in a fight with David Morrell. ‘The Mexican Monster’ should take a break and focus on the upcoming bout.

The following user, pondering Benavidez’s comments, said Benavidez already has a contract for his next fight. He wants to point fingers at Alvarez to show the world the influence he wields.

Another user seems to be taking a dig at Benavidez. He says that ‘The Mexican Monster’ shouldn’t miss any call from Alvarez and then go around telling everyone that he’s way too better than the undisputed champion.

However, Benavidez found some support. For instance, a user named Craig believes in what he messages and says that Alvarez is running away despite his skills in boxing since he is frightened of the brutal knockout that awaits him.

Alvarez has repeatedly expressed his interest in a rematch against Dmitry Bivol. The latter defeated him last year when the Mexican champion launched his campaign into the Light Heavyweight division. But as the story goes, Bivol would instead pursue a unification fight with fellow Russian Artur Beterbiev than spend time preparing for a rematch. On the other hand, per a May-month article on BoxingScene, David Morrell feels that a battle with Benavidez seems almost inevitable.
