However, The British YouTuber might have taken it too far after he made some racist comments about Tate’s religion. One of his fans asked Geordie during a live stream whether he would fight Tate. However, he looked annoyed at the question before stating that he would ‘blow himself up’ along with Tate if the opportunity presented itself. This was a direct play on a stereotype of Islam and was certainly not well-received by fans.
True Geordie issues an apology following recent controversial comments
Many fans took to social media and called Geordie out for these ‘Islamophobic’ remarks. This pressure has now warranted Geordie to issue an apology on his channel. In a 22-minute video, Geordie explained his side of the story, claiming that it was not his intention to hurt the sentiments of any religion. Moreover, he even shared a link to the video on his Twitter handle with the caption. “I made a very stupid comment last week on a live stream which has upset a lot of people. I want to say sorry.” he wrote.

In the video, he admitted that the joke promoted a stereotype about Islam and was meant as a ‘silly’ one.” I’m a cocky guy and say a lot of silly jokes and I love myself to a degree and I get lost in that sometimes.” he said.

Moreover, he added that he was sorry for anyone offended by the video who would frame him to be a person who hated an entire religion. “I am truly, truly, deeply sorry to anyone seeing that. Muslim or not, and thought ‘they guy has hate for anyone’, I just don’t,” he added.

Although an apology was definitely coming and expected by many, the 22-minute video felt more like a PR stunt rather than a sincere apology. Thus, it was no surprise when many called Geordie out for not fully understanding the consequences of his actions.
