For Lamont Roach Jr., the decision to fight Gervonta Davis is an attempt to cement his legacy after snubbing the other opportunities that were presented to him. But that could turn out to be a misstep for ‘The Reaper’ because ‘Tank’ seems to be pretty geared up for their clash. In fact, recent video footage surfaced on social media, where Davis’s physique left boxing fans in awe.

Gervonta Davis’s lightweight title defense against Lamont Roach was originally planned to take place a few days ago on December 14th. But that got pushed down to March 1st, 2025, as the fight is also going to be live-streamed on Amazon Prime Video. But despite having three months to prepare and set his training up, Davis already seems to be ready to butt heads in a proper fight.

Yes, the 30-year-old has been working out as recent footage showed him sporting a now ripped physique, living up to his nickname, ‘Tank’. Normally, boxers start their training camp around six to eight weeks prior to stepping inside the squared circle, but as it seems, Gervonta Davis is in the right state of mind, and doesn’t want to take any risks even though he has a 2-0 amateur record against ‘The Reaper’.

Fans praise “razor sharp” Gervonta Davis

Gervonta Davis’s new physique actually blew fans away, as one of them on YouTube stated, “That champ in shape it’s up,” insinuating great results coming up for the 28-0 star in his upcoming fight. On the other hand, some fans spotted some positive changes in the size of Davis’ upper body muscle structure. A couple of YouTube users stated “His shoulders look big and strong”, and, “Dang, tank looking like 145 [lbs] of muscle right here”, in that regard.

There are reports that often claim that ‘Tank’ is just six inches taller than what people call dwarfism. Yes, he’s on the shorter side when it comes to boxers, but he’s compensated with his skills, and with the new physique one fan hailed Gervonta Davis for his dedication to training and staying in shape, saying, “This dude is razor sharp. Walking around a few lbs from fight weight. He came in 133 last fight. This is how you should be. Not these dudes who walk around 40 lbs heavier than they fight in or even more.”
