It’s been a hectic year for Jake Paul. Beginning with the February fight against archrival Tommy Fury, six months later he fought former UFC legend Nate Diaz. In December, he will enter the ring for the third time this year to face Andre August for an eight-round cruiserweight fight in Orlando, Florida’s Caribe Royale. IFN Boxing shared training footage of ‘The Problem Child’ early today.

They tweeted, “Training footage of Jake Paul ahead of his bout against Andre August.” It shows him running loops on a track along with a few team members. After the final leg, he starts with a slew of shadow punches. It was surprising that not too many were enthused by the motivational attempt. Most questioned the rationale behind fighting a boxer who went inactive after 2019 and reappeared only this year.

The 26-year-old Ohioan has somehow proved that he is serious about leaving an impression in boxing. Unlike other influencer boxers, who wind up after some time, ‘The Problem Child’ seems to be genuinely putting in an effort to up his game. But still, it’s hard to convince fans and followers of his genuine effort and his choice of opponents makes the matter even more difficult. Taking a dig at Jake Paul, the following user surmised that probably he coerced others into walking so that he could appear to be going faster.

Then the next user wasn’t far behind. They wondered why Jake Paul needed to train hard for a fight, which is already fixed!

Echoing almost similar sentiments, this follower also made a pitch that Paul shouldn’t work that hard for the fight.

This follower wondered why Paul had to go to such great lengths. According to them, he’s working out needlessly as he would be taking on an idle, old boxer whose sole motivation for the fight is a good paycheck.

But the following user seemed to be a die-hard fan. In his strong opinion, Jake Paul outperforms KSI in every aspect: speed, footwork, power, technique, cardio, and boxing prowess.

After losing his first bout against a full-time boxer like Tommy Fury in February, perhaps Jake Paul seems keen to rub away the standard narrative of him picking old mixed martial artists as opponents.

An unfinished business in boxing

Till last year, out of the six professional fights he participated in, Jake Paul faced retired mixed martial artists. After the Fury fight, he went back to face Nate Diaz. However, he was found struggling against a fighter, marking his boxing debut. Thus, it becomes all the more important that he starts facing more and more boxers to mark his name as a serious boxing contender. Additionally, he is also signed with the Professional Fighters League. Hence, fans might get a chance to witness ‘The Problem Child’ going ground and pound in the Octagon.
