It’s given. The lead-up to the Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney fight is bound to witness fireworks. More importantly, both boxers have known each other since they were amateurs. They will be exchanging jabs next week. However, the online landscape already appears jammed with barbs, digs, and taunts. Often, videos aid in the effort. Even if it’s one that goes back years.
After weeks of wrangling, only by early February had confirmation reached that Ryan Garcia and Devin were all set for a momentous clash on April 20. The duo will slug it out for Haney’s WBC light welterweight title at New York’s Barclays Center. In his latest post, Ryan Garcia shared an old footage where both he and Haney are seen sparring. Given that leakage of sparring footage has of late become a touchy issue, it didn’t take much time before he received a reply from ‘The Dream’.

In an Instagram post, which now appears to have been deleted, Ryan Garcia shared an old clip. It showed him sparring with Devin Haney. He had put on a red headguard and wore red vests on a black trunk. Calling ‘The Dream a ‘kid’, he also wrote a message. “Too fast for this kid, @realdevinhaney. Years ago, but we know what will happen. 4/20, tap in technically; this is [tomorrow], so let’s go.” So after touching gloves, the pair moved around, with Haney adopting his usual out-boxer style.
But it didn’t take much time before the WBC light welterweight champion launched his retort. Laughing out loud, he said, “Bum didn’t even hit me.. I’m stopping u April 20th, Wallahi.”
So, starting off with two jabs to the face, Garcia quickly tried a jab to the body. Then he threw two successive left hooks. Perhaps the overall purpose behind sharing this video is to showcase the dazzling speed of the former interim lightweight champion.
Ryan Garcia has now posted this footage of himself sparring Devin Haney with the caption: "Too fast for this kid. Years ago, but we know what will happen."
Haney has commented: "Bum didn’t even hit me. I’m stopping you April 20th."

However, it didn’t prevent many of the followers from highlighting that his punches failed to make any connection. One user said, “Ryan, we love you, my guy, but u didn’t even touch him, lol.” The other pointed out, “Bro, you didn’t land.”
