Oleksandr Usyk‘s dream of proving himself against the heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury seems to keep getting further away from him. The highly anticipated match between the two for the undisputed world heavyweight title was originally scheduled for February 17 in Riyadh. However, they postponed it due to Fury sustaining a significant cut above his eye during training. It has now been rescheduled for May 18 in Saudi Arabia, as announced by fight promoters. Some fans, however, find the injury staged.
They accused ‘The Gypsy King’ of trying to duck Usyk by causing the injury himself. To this, Tony Bellew, the former Cruiserweight champion has come to Fury’s rescue. In an interview with iFL TV, he added his two cents to the discussion.

Queensberry Promotions issued an official statement revealing that the injury above Fury’s right eye necessitated urgent medical attention and extensive stitching, thus requiring a substantial recovery period. Such an injury is not new to the sport of boxing. A combat sport, even during sparring would hold the risk of injury and this is exactly what Bellew pointed out. “I feel sorry for Tyson Fury. Anyone who thinks Tyson Fury cut his face off is an absolute psychopath. You need to go check yourself to the nearest doctor or psychiatrist if you think Tyson Fury cut himself, you lunatic.” he said.
Training for matches is never a cakewalk. Injury is common and Bellew himself has barely ever stepped into a ring without a single scratch or injury on himself. “Everyone’s got a knock or a bump or some kind of injury. It’s just how well you can hide it and mask it. No one can mask the face. No one can hide the face. Unfortunately, Tyson Fury was very unlucky to get a cut like that mate” he explained. Meanwhile, Bellew has also predicted the results for the Fury-Ngannou.

Tyson Fury can change the game with this fighting style
Bellew, who suffered a knockout defeat from Usyk in his last match, believes Fury has a slim chance against the Ukrainian. “I don’t think anybody beats Oleksandr Usyk. I don’t think anybody beats him. I said it many many moons ago. I think now [Fury] has a puncher’s chance but he isn’t a big puncher to be honest,” he said. Bellew suggests Fury’s previous fighting style, under his uncle’s guidance, might have been more effective against Usyk than his current aggressive counter-punching approach.

Despite acknowledging Fury’s accomplishments, Bellew unequivocally asserts Usyk as the top heavyweight. This commentary adds to previous tension between Fury and Bellew, with Fury criticizing Bellew for his perceived bias towards Anthony Joshua. Amid circulating rumors of sparring setbacks, Fury dismisses them, demonstrating his physical readiness by posing confidently in front of a mirror.
