Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Amanda Serrano, along with her sister Cindy Serrano, found her way into the world of boxing at a young age, following in her sister’s footsteps. Serrano, whose journey into boxing was sparked by a bold response to a New York Daily News ad, led her to join the Golden Gloves at the age of 18. Today, she is a versatile athlete excelling in boxing, MMA, and wrestling, and is the undisputed featherweight world champion. From the WBO in 2019 to the WBA in 2023, she’s triumphed in multiple weight classes.

Nicknamed “The Real Deal,” she’s the sole female Puerto Rican with world titles in over four classes. She also has a Guinness World Record for most championships across weights. What did it take to bridge the gap? In a recent post on X, she took her fans through her journey from the bottom to the very top while still reflecting on the important lesson that we all must remember.

On her X account, Serrano posted a picture of her younger self with red boxing gloves on. The caption on the post read, “FlashBack! When I 1st did it no 1 cared We had No WBC, WBA, WBO, or IBF Titles. We made literally just Hundreds of $ not even thousands. Today we have so much & some still complain. Walk a Mile in my shoes you’d think Differently! Stay Blessed & Remember It Could & it was Worse!” She reminded her fans to be grateful for what we have and remember always how worse it could actually get.

Another story of sheer willpower and determination driving magnanimous changes. Recently, she made history, fighting the first 12 3-minute round match against Danila Ramos. Not too distant in the past, Serrano’s earnings hovered between $1,500 and $4,000.

However, that is not the case now. To provide an example, when she faced Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden, both fighters entered the coveted seven-figure earnings bracket with the fight.

Does Jake Paul have a role to play in Amanda Serrano’s success?

In April, Serrano sparked a tweet expressing her desire to fight on the undercard of a Jake Paul pay-per-view. By June, during a separate discussion involving Showtime, Jake Paul, and Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian, the concept of featuring a prominent female fighter on the Paul undercard gained traction. This led to Serrano securing a co-main event slot in August in Cleveland, eventually becoming the first athlete to sign under Paul and Bidarian’s company in September.

Paul, renowned for his social media and YouTube prominence, turned professional fighter and manager for Serrano. He vigorously promoted her across various platforms. This strategic collaboration not only elevated Serrano’s visibility but also introduced her to a new and younger demographic.

Almost overnight, Serrano transformed from being one of the most skilled yet lesser-known fighters in her field to potentially becoming the most recognized star in women’s boxing. “It’s funny. It took Jake Paul to actually have people acknowledge me and to know who I am,” said Serrano, acknowledging Jake Paul’s role in helping her image grow exponentially.
