It seems that politics is turning out to be a prime vertical for retired boxers and former fighting legends. Many notable boxing personalities are diving into this segment to help the needy and extend their support to as many people as they can. Former boxing champ Jessie Vargas is another personality who has stepped into this vertical.
Vargas took it to his Instagram handle to update his fans about the same. He wrote,
“I have an exciting announcement: I am running for United States Congress! (Nevada District 4) Las Vegas has given me so much, and now I am devoting my time to make it better and to fight to keep the American dream alive!”

Vargas began his boxing career back in 2008. Nobody back then expected him to embark on a stellar career. In 2014, Vargas claimed his very first title at the super-lightweight frame. He won the WBA strap after beating Khabib Allakhverdiev.
‘The Pride of Las Vegas’ even defended his WBA belt twice. Later, in 2015, he stepped into the welterweight frame, locking horns with Timothy Bradley Jr. for the WBO interim welterweight title. In this fight, he capitulated to his first loss.

In his next fight, Vargas beat Sadam Ali to become the WBO welterweight champ. His last fight was in 2020 against Mikey Garcia. Here, ‘The Pride of Las Vegas’ lost via a UD. Now, Vargas has all of his attention for the elections and he will look to make the most out of his time there.
