Tim Tszyu has mastered two arts in boxing. One is to throw lethal punches inside the squared circle and the other is to sway the fans with his walkouts. The fans know they are in for a show the moment the Australian boxer steps out of the locker room and the entertainment doesn’t stop till he bows out of the arena after standing and trading with his opponents.
Tszyu, 29, will have another opportunity to give his fans a memorable night when he goes up against champion Bakhram Murtazaliev and challenges for his IBF super welterweight gold strap on October 19. You can be sure of the fireworks and exciting action, but you can also bet on ‘The Soul Taker’ to have a grand walkout. Before that happens, let’s give you a glimpse of how the son of boxing legend Kostya Tszyu has done it in the past.
Tim Tszyu vs. Dennis Hogan

Tszyu, at 24-1, prefers to use two songs. One is when he leaves the locker room and makes his way to the entrance, and the second one, is when he pauses, soaks in the electrifying atmosphere, and then walks down to the ring. For his fight against Dennis Hogan in 2021, he staged one of the best walkouts of his career before the home crowd.
He used the “Hypnotize” by Hip Hop great The Notorious B.I.G. after he left the locker room. Then the former WBO champion employed “Another One Bites The Dust” by the British rock band Queen as he stood on a constructed mini stage behind the curtains to foreshadow what would become of his opponent. He would secure a fifth-round knockout win against Hogan and rise in the rankings.
Tszyu vs. Tony Harrison
It was one of the biggest fights for Tszyu. The Sydney native was fighting for the interim WBO title against Tony Harrison in 2023. Similar to his fight with Hogan, he used “Hypnotize” by The Notorious B.I.G. as he took center stage before the crowd. He wanted to freshen up the old memories and indicate that this fight was no different.

But Tszyu then walked to the ring while blasting “Juice In Car” by Avalanche the Architect. It proved to be an affair how he had envisioned it and alluded to. He took the interim belt home after a ninth-round knockout and improved his then record to 22-0.
Tszyu vs. Carlos Ocampo
Tszyu again entered the boxing ring, a couple of months after his demolition job with Harrison to defend his newly acquired interim belt. The set was set at the Qudos Bank Arena and he decided to add a Mexican flavor to it. With his title aspirations on the line, he walked to “Cancion Del Mariachi” by Antonio Banderas/Los Lobos from his locker room.

It didn’t take Tszyu to put the fans on their toes, as he then played the evergreen classic “Straight to the Bank” by 50 Cent and turned the mood. The fans had only settled in their seats, as Tszyu came out buzzing and made easy work of Ocampo. The challenger didn’t get to hear the end of the first round’s bell, as he got flatlined with the clock reading 1:17.
Tim Tszyu vs. Brian Mendoza
In between his fight with Ocampo and Mendoza, Tszyu got elevated as a champion after Jermell Charlo decided to move up and face Canelo Alvarez. To mark his grand walkout and to illustrate his new stature as champion, he chose an apt song, Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, as he walked in green gear with fireworks coming off the ring’s corner.

He then unleashed a remix of “Ante Up” by M.O.P. feat. Busta Rhymes, Teflon, and Remy Martin while walking confidently to the ring’s center with a team member holding up his WBO title and showcasing it to the fans. Tszyu put in a clinical performance, as he went the distance and didn’t allow the pressure of a big fight to affect him. It now remains to be seen which song he will use when he endeavors to claim the IBF title. But our safe bet could be another 50 Cent or The Notorious B.I.G. song.
