The lightweight division of boxing has had a roller coaster of events for the past few months. There have been surprises, controversies, and some incredible fight matchups planned. Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson is one of them. As boxing pundits and fans have been making predictions for this fight, former boxer turned analyst Tim Bradley also shed some light on the subject.
Bradley believed, “Stevenson beats Tank. He outboxes him very easy with no problem whatsoever.” However, Stevenson’s last performance against Artem Harutyunyan has changed his perspective. Bradley still holds ‘Sugar’ as an excellent boxer, but he has grown to understand that Davis can surpass him.

The ESPN commentator was in conversation with Sean Zittel, where he said, “I can see a path to where ‘Tank’ can catch him and hurt him and knock him out. When you put heat on Shakur he’s so defensive that he doesn’t throw punches, nothing is returned. So you can mount an attack on him and let your hands go and you’re not going to receive any counterpunches coming back.”
Stevenson likes to play defensive and has an approach to using the ring’s space. Conversely, Davis is a knockout artist who is renowned for his impressive one-shot knockouts. Bradley further added, “I think ‘Tank’ knows that. If he starts moving back on his bike and ‘Tank’s coming forward, ‘Tank’s going to be called the aggressor, so now I can see ‘Tank’ winning the fight, when I thought that he couldn’t, on the scorecards and not knocking out Shakur. The inactivity behind his defense could be his downfall.”
The Baltimorean hard hitter was last seen inside the squared circle on June 15th against Frank Martin. There were speculations regarding who he might fight next after that. Shakur Stevenson and Vasyl Lomachenko were the two prospective opponents; Davis selected the latter. There have been debates about who Davis should have chosen. But there’s a boxing pundit who feels that fighting ‘Loma’ is essential for Davis’ resume.

‘Tank’ has an unblemished record of 30 wins, with 28 by knockout. He has triumphed against top fighters including Ryan Garcia, Isaac Cruz, and Jose Pedraza. But according to boxing analyst ‘ShowBizzAdult’, Davis hasn’t yet reached the pinnacle of his career and is only getting started. He stated, “I do like Gervonta’s resume. But, it feels like his career is just starting.”

The boxing analyst went on to explain, “For some reason, you get the feeling that we’re just introducing Gervonta – it’s almost like his career is just starting. There’s a lot on the damn plate, other than beating Ryan Garcia.”
‘Loma’ is among the most technically skilled boxers out there, and sharing the ring with him would definitely help Davis’ resume. Meanwhile, what do you think of Bradley’s remarks about Tank vs. Stevenson? Feel free to let us know below.
