Over the weekend, the boxing realm rose to its peak enthusiasm when Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez entered the ring against Jermell Charlo. A jam-packed T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, witnessed Alvarez inch toward victory with each jab he took toward his opponent. Personifying precision, brilliant footwork, and scathing attack, the fighter established his dominance in the ring right at the beginning.
With each round taking its course, folks in attendance knew what was to come. However, as most predicted for a win by stoppage, Canelo Alvarez soared to victory through a unanimous decision. Now, having successfully defended his super-middleweight titles and his undisputed status, the Mexican fighter embarks on a mandatory fight. The opponent? David Benavidez. But only if…

A Possible Canelo Alvarez fight on the horizon for David Benavidez
For a long time now, the boxing realm has anticipated a fight between the interim WBC Super-Middleweight Champion David Benavidez, and the Mexican fighter, Canelo. While most expected the fight earlier this year, Canelo signed on a lucrative payout matchup against Jermell Charlo. Now, having defended his super-middleweight titles, there is a chance he might in fact fight Benavidez.
A fight of this magnitude does seem plausible now. But for it to fruition, another fight needs to see the day. On November 25th, David Benavidez will defend his interim championship against Demetrius Andrade. The winner of this bout will be granted the mandatory challenger status to Canelo. In March this year, Benavidez called on Canelo for a fight. He said, “I have a lot of respect for Canelo Alvarez, but he has to give me that shot now.” He added, “That’s what everybody wants to see in September. … I don’t think he’s trying to avoid me; I just believe he has a lot of options.”

In the wake of Canelo grabbing his victory against Charlo, a video of Benavidez throwing some impressive KO shots in the gym has gone viral. While fans seemed impressed by his precision and swift jabs, most concentrated on how he looked bigger than a super-middleweight.
One user thought it was a heavyweight fighter at first glance. They commented, “Jesus i thought that was a heavyweight at first.”
Echoing this opinion, another one said, “He still got a lot of weight to drop.” A super middleweight fighter fights at a weight bracket of 168 pounds.
The video hosts an energetic Benavidez, grunting and screaming as he takes some swift jabs. However, the sounds he made failed to impress one fan who said, “Most of his energy is spent on sound effects! I got Canelo for W!!”

The fighter brought his A-game into the gym and impressed his fans. But one critic still believes that Benavidez will fall short of stopping Canelo from speeding toward victory. They said, “Not enough movement to avoid Canelo.”
However, another fan gathered the entire discourse in one comment. Most still believed that Canelo was much more adept than Benavidez, and would prove his prowess against him. A fan reflecting this sentiment said, “Canelo gonna K.O this weight bully.”
Come 25th November, David Benavidez will face off against Demetrius Andrade. On the undercard is long-lost Jermall Charlo against younger Benavidez brother, Jose. According to reports, the brothers will headline their events at two separate locations in San Antonio, Texas. The two venues are the Frost Bank Center (formerly AT&T Center), home to the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, and the Alamodome.
