“Thought He Wanted to Fight Teofimo Lopez”: Amid Ongoing Lawsuits With Oscar De La Hoya, Potential Ryan Garcia Comeback Fight Fails to Impress Fans

After Ryan Garcia announced that he would fight “at the end of the year,” Dan Rafael informed the public about “one of the leading candidates” likely to get the fight. According to Rafael, “despite the fractured relationship” between Golden Boy Promotions and ‘KingRy,’ the two are “working together” to stage Garcia’s comeback fight.

As per Rafael, Garcia’s team initially pursued the WBA junior welterweight title holder, Rolando Romero. However, since Romero had to deal with an injury and a mandatory defense against the 31-year-old Ohara Davies, “the fight could not be made“. With Romero out, team Garcia is reportedly looking at a number of potential opponents for Garcia’s comeback fight. And while a venue is yet to be set, Rafael believes Ryan Garcia is likely to return against Pedro Campa in the ring. This certainly didn’t go well among fans, as most showed their feelings known on social media.

Following his loss to Davis and Teofimo Lopez‘s victory against Josh Taylor, Ryan Garcia DM’d ‘The Takeover’ suggesting a fight. Although Lopez deleted the messages by Garcia, he stated that the latter was “desperate for a payday“. According to Lopez, Garcia declared he was “looking forward to it” and even announced that they “could make some good money” with the fight. In the wake of the mentioned incident, while many expected Garcia vs. Lopez, the news of Garcia and Campa’s potential fight disappointed fans.

Meanwhile, one declared they wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan lost against Campa too.
