Klitschko criticizes the latest WBA-IBA pact

The WBA and IBA have joined hands to launch a new pact aimed at promoting the sport. This will include the two bodies hosting competitions, events, and other ventures also awarding points to fighters competing in these events. However, the former champ has come out and criticized the pact for reinstating Russian and Belarusian Boxers. In a Twitter post, he called out the two bodies, claiming that the reinstatement of boxers was a disservice to the sport and should not have been done.

Boxing needs more transparency, not more greed. The collaboration between WBA and IBA is a stain on the coat of noble art. The decision to reinstate Russian and Belarusian boxers is an indelible moral fault. It is no coincidence that the IOC persists in excluding boxing from the 2028 Olympic Games. Boxing needs one big clean-up.” he said.
