Have we crossed a line with these barbaric 2 vs. 1 boxing spectacles?

Boxing has seen unusual things happen, but this one takes the cake. On 26th October, a unique event took place at the Gopass Arena—part of the National Basketball Center—in Bratislava, Slovakia. It featured a total of thirteen fights among the country’s popular celebrities. However, one of those fights seems to have come under scrutiny on social media. But why?

As it turns out the co-main event of the night featured three fighters. Now, you must be wondering how does that work. You see, the thing is, it was a 2 vs. 1 boxing match featuring Matej Király vs. Jan Murcin & Michal Mošpan—all Slovakian celebrities. As you might have guessed, the boxing match didn’t go very well for Király who was fighting two men at the same time.

Who hosted this 2 vs. 1 boxing match?

Right from the starting bell, Király came under heavy attack from his two opponents, both of whom relentlessly landed heavy blows. Meanwhile, Király could barely land one of his shots. While the referee tried his best to separate the boxers, his efforts were largely futile as Király kept taking more and more damage.

At the tail end of the first round, the referee finally stopped the bout, with Király collapsing on the canvas from the relentless blows. The fight was organized by promoter Fight Night Challenge and was part of the FNC 7 event. Regardless, what’s even more interesting is that the main event of the night was even more outrageous—something even worse than 2 vs. 1.

If you guessed a 3 vs. 1, you are correct. The final fight of the night featured Eric Tlkanec vs. Patrick Rigodanzo, Patrik Lakatoš, and Michal Kováčik. That said, Happy Punch shared a clip on X from the 2 vs. 1, captioning the post, “Poor guy got absolutely mauled in a 2v1 ‘execution’ boxing match in Slovakia 😭.”

Seeing this unusual event unfold, people were outraged as they expressed their thoughts in the comments.

Eddie Hall roped in

While fans in Slovakia might be accustomed to such bouts, the rest of the world—not so much. One user was left scratching his head. “How did this even get sanctioned those dudes are still huge even in comparison to dude wtf,” the user exclaimed. The bout took place in the heavyweight division. And since the event isn’t a professional match, the question of who sanctioned it becomes pointless as no one has to for a fight that is promoted as pure entertainment.

Another user expressed their frustration by condemning the fight. “No no this shouldn’t be acceptable 😳,” the user wrote. However, such events are pretty common for the Slovakian promotion.

Someone else demanded to see the manager. “I’d like to meet his agent who organized this! Agent of the year unbelievable,” the user wrote. All three fighters are signed with FNC promotion.

Meanwhile, this user decided to rope in strongman legend Eddie Hall. “He thought he was Eddie Hall,” the user wrote. Hall is a British strongman who, not long ago, fought the Neffati Brothers in a 2 vs 1 MMA event. However, unlike the Slovakian fight, here it was Eddie Hall who ended up mauling the two brothers.

The next user speculated the point behind such a fight. The user asked, “How does this work? Does he get paid more?” The purse details for the fight are not yet disclosed.

It appears the 2 vs. 1 Slovakia boxing match has caught international attention because of the barbaric nature of the fight. However, whether this backlash will stop such fights from happening is yet to be seen. What did you think of the event?
