Eddy Reynoso is known to be the man behind Canelo Alvarez’s success. He has been with Canelo since the very beginning and has guided him through the biggest nights of his career. However, during the Canelo Alvarez vs. Dmitry Bivol fight, he received criticism from fans. The criticism came after Reynoso’s speech during the Dmitry Bivol fight resurfaced online. As Canelo struggled in the ring, Eddy seemed just as frustrated as his fighter. Even though his intentions were pure, fans poured all their discontent on Eddy and blamed him for the loss.

The frustration was evident as Canelo failed to get a grip on the fight, being out-landed on several occasions. Meanwhile, Dmitry Bivol was winning the fight comfortably. Reynoso’s speech to Canelo Alvarez during the final round was not as motivational as one would think. However, it was laced with concern toward his pupil. Moreover, Canelo’s coach, only gave him the best possible advice he could, at that point in time. Notably, his last-round advice to Canelo Alvarez before Dmitry Bivol upset did shock a lot of fans. Reynoso called Canelo ‘son’ and even motivated Canelo to give the best version of himself in the final round. “It’s the last f*** round! Son, it’s the final round, show the best version of yourself here,” Reynoso exclaimed.

He further continued, “Do things right. Two shots and move. He’s heavier than you and you can’t knock him out now. Three f*** minutes, use them well OK. Use your head, man.” Eddie must have realized that Canelo was being outperformed and advised what would be the best course of action for him moving forward. Far too many boxers have pushed themselves too hard during a fight and inevitably gotten hurt.

However, some fans were quick to criticize Reynoso for the corner advice he gave. The video of Reynoso’s speech during the fight has gone viral on social media, and fans have been vocal about their disappointment in the coach’s performance.

Fans pour in mixed reactions to the clip

Even though there are several fans who started questioning Eddy on his ability to coach, there were also a lot of fans who came in his support. One fan, creamyismemey, defended Eddy and wrote that he is a good coach. He wrote, “… between Canelo and Valdez his disbelief and shock made it that hard for him to actually give advice.

Another fan, Vendettaa, claims that all the people hating Eddy and Canelo are using a month-old account as they are afraid of revealing their real identities. They wrote, “Why do Canelo haters always have a month-old account though? What’s hiding in all your real accounts?

SSJ4Autism also came in Reynoso’s support. He wrote, “He was giving good advice in the GGG, Jacobs, and Kovalev fights. I think he gives advice based on what he knows Canelo can realistically do in the given situation, it’s just that there was nothing Canelo could’ve done to Bivol.”

However, some fans couldn’t accept the advice Canelo’s coach gave him before the final round.

HenryXa questioned Eddy’s competency as a coach and wrote, “Eddy wasn’t really helping Canelo much in between rounds the whole fight. This really exposed how Eddy can’t really help when Canelo is losing. I don’t think there was a path for Canelo to win that fight anyway, but Eddy was spectacularly useless with advice between rounds. Really took some of the shine off Eddy after seeing those exchanges.

Overall, the fans are showing a mixed response to the clip on Eddy’s last-round corner advice. While some fans were criticizing him, some defended Canelo’s loyal coach.
