The P4P King Canelo Alvarez has never engaged in trash-talking or outer-ring drama with his opponents. However, boxing fans have seen a slight change in his personality after he won the unified 168 lbs title fight against Billy Joe Saunders last week.

The Mexican superstar had a verbal altercation with WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade in the post-fight press conference. Though it began as friendly banter, it ended on a vile note. Canelo Alvarez appeared to lose his calm as he ordered ‘Boo Boo’ to leave the arena.

After the incident, Alvarez connected with The Athletic and opened up on this new behavior. While Alvarez seems to have had enough, he wouldn’t be the quiet world champion anymore.

“At some point you have to f**king say something, right?” said the new unified super middleweight champion.

Meanwhile, his in-ring stance stunned the whole combat world. 56-1-2 as a professional, he seems invincible at this stage. Already a 4-division champion, 30-year-old Alvarez is arguably the best active boxer and is only threatening to get better.

What’s next for Canelo Alvarez?

The Mexican giant is one belt away from being the undisputed super middleweight world champion. On his return to action from a long layoff, Canelo Alvarez vanquished Callum Smith in December to claim the WBC, WBA, and Ring 168lbs belts.

He then defended them via TKO against Avni Yildirim in February. Three months later, he beat Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO belt. Hence, IBF titlist Caleb Plant might be his next target. Eddie Hearn has already vowed to begin the fight talks and we can see the undisputed unified super-middleweight title clash happen in September.
