‘King Ry’ shared ‘Tank’s promoter, Leonard Ellerbe’s statement, wherein the latter revealed that he tried to book Davis against Garcia in March. Responding to the same, Garcia wrote, “This is the only fight that I want, would love to make this happen this year!! You know this Leonard!!”

Garcia took on Luke Campbell in his last fight. The duo locked horns for the WBC interim lightweight strap and ‘King Ry’ overcame adversity to stay unbeaten. The youngster bounced back and displayed a champion mindset to win this thrilling encounter and the interim belt.

Since then, Garcia hasn’t stepped inside the squared circle, nor has he got aligned to face anyone as of yet. However, with his above comments, it’s safe to admit that ‘King Ry’ is clear on who he wants to share the ring with.
Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis – Will it happen at the lightweight landscape?
For now, Gervonta Davis has moved up to the super-lightweight roster, and he’s even claimed the WBA regular title there. Citing that, it seems ‘Tank’ won’t drop down to the lightweight roster again, until and unless he receives a mega challenge.
That said, Garcia has the tools to draw ‘Tank’ back to lightweight. However, he may have to face the other 135 pounders as Davis will have his defenses across divisions.
