Unified super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo will face the undefeated WBO titlist, Brian Carlos Castano, on July 17 in a fight that can earn him all four world titles. On a broader look at the division, Castano might not be the biggest name from the roster. However, a win against him would cement ‘Iron Man’ as the undisputed 154 lbs champion.
This particular label would set him apart from every other boxer, including Floyd Mayweather, who couldn’t unify all four belts at 154 lbs. Hence, as the nearing fight appears to be an important benchmark in Jermell Charlo’s career, ‘Iron Man’ apparently looks focussed.
“This is a huge fight for me, you know. This is something that the great Floyd Mayweather hasn’t accomplished. This fight does cement my legacy, this fight pushes me past something, this fight is the fight that’s like. You know, you are the one. This fight right here,” said Jermell Charlo.

Brian Carlos Castano has a clean record of 17-0-1, in which 12 wins have come via KOs. The Argentine pugilist has been on a commendable run in his career so far. Hence, the upcoming fight would also be very important to him as he has the opportunity to grab all four belts and finish Jermell Charlo.
Jermell Charlo vs Brian Carlos Castano- Preview
Standing at 5’11” Jermell Charlo would dwarf Brian Carlos Castano under every physical attribute. While they both are orthodox hitters, the added advantage in physicality can give an edge to Charlo. Besides, ‘Iron Man’ has way more experience than his next opponent and has already faced many A-listers from the roster.

Meanwhile, Castano’s only fight against a top-tier opponent happened when he boxed Erislandy Lara in 2019 to a draw. Thus, Jermell Charlo will be the next big test of his career. While Castano will have his chances to win, it has all the makings of a tough night for the Argentine star.
