Even before its culmination, the rumbles of the fight at T Mobile Arena reverberate across the realm. Barely a conversation goes by that doesn’t make provisions for the Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. match. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is no spring chicken to understand the big bout’s impact. FightHype shared a short video of an interview with Mayweather Jr. given over five years ago. The undefeated champion spoke at length about Crawford, who had just become the undisputed Light Welterweight champion.

Calling ‘Bud’ Crawford, pound-for-pound, the best boxer in the world, Mayweather Jr. expressed a desire to work with him. He said, “…you know, if he was, if he’s ever free and you want to go to any company, if he’s a free agent, I would love to work with him if he’s free because I know [that] what I can do to take him to the next level…” ‘TBE’ also mentioned how Crawford reminded him of how he used to be as a young boxer. No wonder scores of fans joined, chiming in their thoughts.

Ivan Frizell seems sure that the bout between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. won’t be regular. He believes it will be a titanic battle of epic proportions that won’t last five rounds. However, he has a word of appreciation for both the boxers for accepting the challenge and doing a great favor to the boxing world. He said, “This ain’t gonna be no boxing match. This is gonna be a war that won’t go 5 rounds. Much respect to Crawford and Spence for stepping to the plate for the boxing world.

Fausto Marin even compared Crawford with one of boxing’s greatest, Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Marin contends that ‘Bud’ is the era’s Hagler, who may not be as tough as the legend but owns more ring IQ, “Crawford is a new era Hagler with a bit less toughness but a bit more brains.” User Hayze stipulates that had he been in Crawford’s place; he would have readily joined Mayweather Jr.’s stable. According to Hayze, the former champion would have taken him to a level where ‘Canelo’ Alvarez stands today, “Not gonna lie, if I’m Crawford, I would highly consider signing with Floyd. I believe He would’ve had Bud at the same tier as Canelo.

Naysayers, not far away

However, Juandon Burleson appears to differ, for he claims that Crawford, who stands smaller than Spence Jr., may fail to withstand the latter’s body shots, “[Bud’s] small frame is not going to withstand the body assault from Spence.Maximus Nongrum rather believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is perhaps trying to pull in all the best boxers to his promotions so that they carry forward his name and his legacy remains intact, “Dude collecting all the good boxers on his name just so he can keep on proving his greatness and they live up to his name.”
