A few months ago, the mere idea of the Francis NgannouTyson Fury fight received criticism but to an extent, rightfully so. Ngannou was yet to make his boxing debut but was expected to give a fight to the WBC heavyweight champion. However, when the bout eventually took place, not only did Ngannou put Fury on the back foot but also gave him one of the toughest fights in his professional career.

Although a win was not on the cards for him, he has added himself to be a contender for the heavyweight division. Moreover, post the fight, a match-up between Deontay Wilder and Ngannou was rumored to take place, intriguingly, in MMA. This ignited several opinions, including from Anthony Joshua‘s promoter, Eddie Hearn. What does he think of the idea?

Hearn disregarded the match-up as if it was an unserious thought. According to the CEO of Matchroom Boxing, Ngannou would dominate Wilder without any considerate effort. In an Interview with MMA Hour, he stated, “I’m not being funny, but have you seen his legs? If Francis Ngannou kicked Deontay Wilder’s legs, they would snap in half.”

It is fair to say that if Ngannou does square off against Wilder in the ring, Hearn would fancy ‘The Predator.’ Meanwhile, the WBC president, post the bout, made a startling statement about the prospect of the MMA fighter in the heavyweight division.

Although Ngannou lost, he earned his right to compete against the best heavyweight boxers. This was also assented by the president of WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, who reportedly told his trainer that Ngannou would be ranked in the top 10 heavyweight rankings. The trainer of Ngannou stated, “Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of [the] WBC, said he is going to rank him in the top ten because he is better than most of the heavyweights in the top ten. He said that in the ring…”
