Tyson Fury fell short of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 when he took on Oleksandr Usyk. However, he is confident their rematch on 21st December in Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, would produce different results. You see, the duo met in the ring back in May earlier this year.

Though Fury put up a hell of a fight, his efforts fell short as Usyk had ‘The Gypsy King’ reeling against the ropes on the verge of a knockout, which was ruled a knockdown. Usyk went on to win the bout by split decision. Still scorned by the loss and believing he was robbed of his rightful win, the Englishman appeared in an interview with iFL TV, where he explained his plans for December.

The money cushioned Fury’s loss

Speaking to the 36-year-old, the reporter probed him about his thoughts on the loss against ‘The Cat.’ Ever the trash talker, Fury refused to acknowledge Usyk’s prowess, as he said, “He got a gift decision over the Gypsy King, end of…” Despite the loss, however, he seemed relieved about his massive paycheck for the fight.

“It is what it is, it’s over now. They’ve took my virginity unfairly. It’d probably feel weird if I’d done it for £50, but considering I got broke in for a lot of money, it doesn’t really matter,” Fury said. It’s worth noting that despite his loss, Fury walked away with an incredible $100 million purse, while Usyk, despite his victory, earned a $45 million paycheck.

Regardless, Fury explained that there’s nothing he could do to undo his loss on the cards, but now, he has the opportunity to avenge his loss in December. “It is what it is, you can’t undo a decision, but I’ve got the chance to do it again in December, and that’s what we’ll do. I will knock him out,” Fury told the reporter

Meanwhile, Tyson’s fellow Brit feels ‘The Gypsy King’ will indeed score a knockout in their rematch.

In a bold prediction, former middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders claimed Tyson Fury will knockout Oleksandr Usyk in their much-anticipated rematch. Reflecting on their first encounter, Saunders told talkSport, “Tyson Fury can beat Usyk three times in one night with one simple game plan.”

Saunders emphasized Fury should use his physical advantage during the fight, stating, “You have to use your size. Every attribute you have, you need to use to full effect.” Interestingly, Saunders is part of Fury’s training camp for the upcoming bout, and he felt complacency and issues in preparation were the culprit behind Fury’s first loss.

“I believe Tyson will win the next fight…and I believe that he will win by knockout as well,” he concluded. Notably, even if Fury manages to defeat Usyk and avenge his loss at the end of this year, he won’t become the undisputed heavyweight champion as Usyk vacated his IBF heavyweight title, which Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois are fighting for today.

That being said, overconfidence and big promises aren’t something new from Tyson Fury. Whether he can prove these claims will be seen when he finally enters the ring against Oleksandr Usyk later this year. Do you think Fury can win? Or will he be met with disappointment once again?
