In 1992 Mike Tyson was convicted of rape and went to prison. Although the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world was sentenced to serve six years in prison followed by four years in probation, he was released after only serving three years. Once he reached the diagnostic centre, the people there, as a part of the procedure, stripped him naked for a cavity search. “They took us to a diagnostic centre to determine what level prison I would be sent to. They stripped me naked, made me bend down and did a cavity search,” wrote Tyson. Following this, Tyson and other inmates received some “pyjama-type” clothes and some slippers.
“Then they gave me some pyjama-type sh*t and some slippers. And they shipped me off to Indiana Youth Centre in Plainfield,” Tyson added by saying. The Indiana Youth Centre in Plainfield was a facility for level two and three offenders. This entire process angered ‘Kid Dynamite’ and he wanted to show everyone how to do time. Overnight, the world had changed for Mike. According to what he wrote in Undisputed Truth, Tyson could not believe what he was witnessing. He was angry with everything. Tyson wanted to do his time his way in prison. He said, “By the time I got to my final destination, I was consumed with rage.”
“I was going to show these motherfu*kers how to do time. My way,” added ‘Kid Dynamite’. Because of his anger, Tyson once even got into a fight with someone in prison. Someone had said something about him and Tyson walked up to him and punched him.
