Boxing legend Mike Tyson believes that his pet tigers may have been from ‘The Tiger King’ – Joe Exotic.

During his early days, Mike Tyson owned 3 Bengal Tigers. He bought them after he was released from prison in the 1990s. Tyson named them Kenya, Storm, and Boris and kept them for a while. However, he had to give them up when he lost his fortune.

Joe Exotic is an ex-zookeeper who is now behind bars after being convicted of 17 charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire. With the recent release of the Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, Tyson has been thinking about the origin of his pet tigers.

Mike Tyson makes a shocking claim

The series itself has been a hit. Netflix claimed that it received over 64 million views worldwide. Tyson has admitted to watching the show. And believes that his tigers may have come indirectly through Joe Exotic.

“It could have been, maybe where I got my cats could have got their cats from Joe. But I don’t know,” Tyson told the Daily Mail. “If you are in the exotic animal world you are aware of him.”

Furthermore, he praised Joe in a controversial statement.

“People always say these people are scumbags. But these are amazing people with what they can do with their ingenious minds and control over other people’s minds. These guys are born leaders.”

Tyson’s greatest regret

Earlier, Tyson revealed how his decision to keep pet tigers turned out to be fatal. He explained an incident where one of his pet tigers ripped off a trespasser’s arm.

“Somebody jumped over my fence where the tiger was and started playing with the tiger,” Tyson told Fat Joe. “The tiger didn’t know the lady so it was a bad accident. She jumped into the property where the tiger was.”

“There’s no way that’s going to happen. They’ll kill you by accident, especially when you’re playing rough with them, you’re punching them back. They get hyped up, hit you back and you’re dead.”
