Moreover, many fighters shuddered at the very thought of stepping inside the ring with a prime Tyson. Meanwhile, a notable Sengalese-American singer once deduced what made Tyson ‘The Baddest Man on The Planet. And it has to do with ‘Iron’ Mike’s ancestors and gorillas.

Tyson was hosting his ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson’ podcast, in 2020, with NFL star, Eben Britton as the co-host. Additionally, rapper Akon was present as a guest for the episode.

Notably, Akon is an award-winning singer who is considered one of the most influential figures in music.

Akon reveals why Mike Tyson is strong

In conversation, Tyson mentioned that he had taken his ancestry test. And also revealed that his ancestors were from Congo. This was when Akon shared a few intriguing facts about the Congolese people.

He nodded in agreement with Tyson, and said, “Oh, I was just about to say you look Congolese. He got a heart of a Congolese. Yo, listen can I tell you something about the Congolese? This is why they have water today. The Congolese, these dudes kill gorillas with their bare hands. That’s why Mike is so strong. Man, it didn’t matter. Pop. Done.”

Moreover, Akon further added, “Congolese, you’re gonna find a bunch of Mikes over there. But that energy is like fearless. No, like straight up, like they will literally go toe-to-toe with a gorilla and win.”

He also mentioned that they were a warrior class. And the same mentality transferred to Tyson.

Tyson once tried to fight a gorilla

There is no denying that the fearless mentality of the Congolese people is cruising through Tyson’s veins. In fact, he once paid tribute to his ancestors by trying to fight a gorilla.

A prime Tyson once visited a zoo with his, then-wife, Robin Givens in the 1980s. This was when he saw a gorilla bullying the other gorillas in the enclosure. An irate Tyson tried to bribe the zookeeper USD 10000 to get into the enclosure and punch the gorilla. But the zookeeper declined his offer.
