It is true what they say about the future being unpredictable. At one point in time, Bob Arum could have sworn that he would never see Manny Pacquiao take on Terence Crawford. However, it seems like this elusive fight might just materialize as BoxingScene reports.
The list of people who thought this fight to be impossible goes beyond Arum. Trainer Freddie Roach, for instance, was against the idea of pitting Pacquiao against Crawford while Top Rank was representing Pacquiao.
Because many felt that Pacquiao would not be able to keep up with Crawford. Considering the quality Crawford brought to the table and the difference in their age.

However, Arum now founds himself in a situation where he is exploring the option of a potential fight between the two.
“These are tentative talks. To make it happen, we’d have to do it outside of the United States, and outside of the Philippines, of course. And we’d have to make it work with a big site fee.”- Bob Arum
Suffering a shocking loss at the hands of Jeff Horn in July 2017 marked the end of Arum and Pacquiao’s time together. However, it seems like the Kibawe born fighter is willing to put their differences to the side to secure a fight with Crawford.
As far as Crawford is concerned, this fight is something he has been dreaming about for quite some time. Even though Pacquiao is now 41 years old. Crawford has been waiting for this high profile fight following his move up from the 140lbs division.
Both Fighters are Willing, Says Bob Arum
Arum explains how they have been trying to make this fight a reality for quite some time. However, the Coronavirus pandemic made it near impossible to organize.
“I had feelers out before all of his happened with the coronavirus. I am optimistic that I will be able to continue with these talks in the next month or so. Talked to Terence and [trainer/manager Brian McIntyre] about it. It appears to me that Crawford and Pacquiao wanna go ahead with that fight.”- Bob Arum

The 88-year-old Top Rank boss still feels that Pacquiao might perish. However, he feels it will be a better fight because lately, Pacquiao has been riding high. Having won 4 of his last five fights, the southpaw will definitely put up a great fight.
“If I had to bet the fight, I’d bet Crawford. But now I think Pacquiao is in there with a good chance. There’s no question that it’ll be an entertaining fight. I’ve had that situation before, where guys get to be a little older, but somehow their skills aren’t diminished.”- Bob Arum
The undefeated Terence Crawford seems like the logical bet. However, the Philippine boxer packs a serious punch and may mark Bud’s first loss.

Keeping the safety of everyone in mind Arum suggests an off-shore fight. However, the location of the same has not been cemented.
