In the pilot episode of Paul’s new show B/s with Jake Paul, he claimed that ticket sales were not the reason for the cancelation. He stated that some people did not want to see him succeed in the sport, despite him bringing a new audience into it.
“People don’t want to see me succeed in the sport of boxing and it’s really unfortunate because all I’ve tried to do is put money in the fighter’s pockets. All I try to do is bring something different, a new audience, into this sport.” He said.
Moreover, he then added that people in boxing don’t want to see him succeed as he might expose the shady practices in the sport. “ A lot of people don’t want to see me with power because they’re scared of me exposing their narrative. They’re scared of me exposing the shady people in boxing. Hasim Rahman Jr. and his whole team shady, this whole situation is typical of fu****g boxing.” He added.

Lastly, he stated that this was the reason he was frustrated with boxing and claimed that he will always provide the truth. “This is where I get mad because boxing is so f****g shady. It’s so dirty, so many lies and I will do my best to always constantly come to you guys with the truth and the facts okay because boxing is shady as f**k, there’s so much corruption inside of it,” said Paul.
It certainly looks like Paul isn’t happy with the current state of boxing and offers to be a beacon of hope for it.
The politics of boxing

Politics between fighters and promoters has always been part of the sport. This is because of the number of promoters in the sport that collectively control and make all fights happen. The big three promotions in boxing, Top Rank, Matchroom, and PBC make almost all the major fights in boxing. While there are other promotions like Golden Boy and Mayweather promotions, they still do not hold the power that the big three do.
Paul looks to become a change for exactly that. His primary focus is to shift the balance of power in boxing and attempt to cut down on the politics and corruption prevalent in the sport.
