Is Ryan Garcia hanging up his boxing gloves? Well, his X feed leaves room for no doubt. “I am officially retired from boxing,” his latest post read. The announcement comes hot on the heels of his PED scandal. Following the 25-year-old boxer’s career-defining win over Devin Haney on April 20, Garcia’s samples collected on the day of the fight, and the day before, came back positive for Ostarine. Even a request for an analysis of the B-sample couldn’t change the results. To sum it up, Ryan’s career hangs in the balance as it is now up to his legal team to prove his innocence to the New York State Athletic Commission (NYAC).
A guilty verdict would spell doomsday for Garcia. If that is the case, the Victorville native could expect suspension of his boxing license. If rumors are to be believed, he could spend up to two years on the sidelines. All things considered, Garcia is now mulling over alternate career options as boxing might have to take a backseat. In a heartfelt message, he seemed to have delivered one final parting note.
Are we really about to lose one of the most entertaining boxers of our generation?

The sport of boxing has frustrated Ryan Garcia. So much so that plans are being hatched for an early retirement from the sport. “Yall may catch me out and about but as far as boxing I don’t know. I may do acting or singing.” Garcia stated on X.
He chalked up “corruption” as one of the reasons for him leaving the sport. In the same post, he revealed that despite his reservations, he loves the “sweet science” as a craft and enjoyed putting on a show for the fans. “I’ll still be training but I’m hurt and done with it and everyone The sad part is I’m a great boxer And I entertain and knock people out I’m sad bc I love (heart emoji) boxing.”

There is so much corruption I’m over it
I may do acting or singing

The sad part is I’m a great boxer
And I entertain and knock people out…

Whether it is his social media antics or dazzling the fans with his explosive boxing style, Garcia has proven to be one of boxing’s biggest PPV draws. To put things in perspective: Garcia’s fight against Davis garnered over 1.2 million PPV buys on now-defunct Showtime and $22.8 million in gate revenue.
However, Garcia, if popped for PEDS, will face further humiliation. For starters, his victory against a long-time rival since his amateur days, Haney, will be scrubbed off the record. A Majority Decision win will be turned into a “no contest” and that could be an utterly demoralizing experience for the 25-1 boxer.
The only way out of this fiasco for Ryan Garcia is if his legal team can somehow prove “supplement contamination” that equated to a billionth of a gram in his sample. Meanwhile, Devin Haney and his team have given an ultimatum involving ‘KingRy’.
No fighting until the court case is resolved!
The WBC super-lightweight seems to be forcing the case for Ryan’s suspension. Devin claimed that he would be taking temporary retirement from boxing until Garcia’s doping case is “adjudicated”. Moreover, his father Bill Haney commented that team Haney would not participate in negotiations for any upcoming fights until Ryan’s PED dispute comes to an end.

‘The Dream’ also demanded “Olympic style drug testing” in the sport which has been marred by multiple high-profile PED-related controversies over the past few years. But one question remains, what if Garcia is absolved? Will Devin Haney stay retired?
Nonetheless, what do you think about ‘KingRy’ retiring from boxing? Is it a gimmick? Or, do you think this decision won’t be as erratic as his X posts? Let us know in the comment section below.
