“There Is No Recovery From That”: Eddie Hearn Shuts Down Interviewer After ‘Famous Because of Dad’ Comment, Fans Go Wild

Eddie Hearn, the famous boxing promoter, appeared on the Capital FM breakfast show to discuss his client Anthony Joshua’s upcoming comeback bout against Jermaine Franklin on 1 April.

Things took an unexpected turn during a game of ‘Home Truths’ when the host accused Hearn of only being famous because of his dad Barry Hearn, founder of promo company, Matchroom Sport.

The statement of Roman Kemp didn’t quite go as he expected. Hearn was quick to respond, “I agree, but how relevant because you, my friend, are definitely only famous because of your dad. The difference between me and you is I have something you don’t – talent and ability.”

As Kemp held back his laughter, Hearn continued, “I think your dad knew somebody at Capital FM. And I think the conversation went something like this: ‘Do you remember when I did all those favors for you, used to come on your show and sing live? Well, my son is pretty useless to be honest with you, and I don’t know what I’m going to do with him. You once said to me if I ever need anything, I’m here for you. I need a favor. He’s got no talent. He’s got no ability. He has no prospects. If you could just give him a job somewhere. Cleaning, running coffee, anything.’ And the guy said to him, ‘I promised you a big favor. I’m gonna put him in front of the mic.’ And here you are Roman Kemp today.”

The team burst out laughing in the background, with one person shouting, “He’s won!” Listeners absolutely loved Hearn’s takedown, with some reactions pouring in on Instagram.
