Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. have reportedly agreed to a deal and will fight on July 29 for the undisputed welterweight championship inside the T-Moblie Arena, Las Vegas. According to Mike Coppinger of ESPN, the boxers have agreed to a two-fight deal with a rematch clause. Additionally, Coppinger believes that if Crawford and Spence Jr. split the initial two fights, there might be an “overwhelming” trilogy.
After the first bout between Crawford and Spence Jr., the two boxers are expected to move up to 154 lbs. This has led Coppinger to believe that the winner of Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. would potentially lock horns with Jermell Charlo competing for the undisputed junior middleweight championship. According to Coppinger’s belief, this matchup “will decide supremacy at 147 pounds,” and consequently “lend the winner a claim as the best boxer in the world regardless of weight.”

It is either Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford against Jermell Charlo
While Coppinger meditated on a potential bout between Jermell Charlo and the winner of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford, Charlo, recently expressed his interest in fighting Canelo Alvarez in an Undisputed vs. Undisputed bout. According to Charlo’s assessment, Alvarez’s last fight against John Ryder was “sh*tty”. Likewise, calling out Alvarez, Charlo said, “I’ve never ducked smoke. Undisputed vs. undisputed. That could be a big thing in boxing.” However, Coppinger feels Charlo might as well compete against the winner of ‘The Truth’ vs. ‘Bud’.

While Coppinger spoke about a possible trilogy involving Spence Jr. and Crawford, he simultaneously felt the winner of the first fight could face Charlo having moved up to 154 lbs. “Whoever comes out on top is expected to push for a shot at the undisputed junior middleweight championship, which is currently held by Jermell Charlo,” Coppinger wrote, as reported by ESPN. However, time will only tell what awaits Crawford and Spence Jr. Meanwhile, it has been reported that both fighters will “earn eight figures guaranteed for the Showtime PPV fight“.
