Boxing is one of the most brutal sports, with fighters constantly being under serious threat during any fight. Moreover, there are some fights that serve brutal knockouts that leave viewers stunned and give everyone a reality check about the dangers of the sweet science. One such fight was the battle between Edison Miranda vs David Banks back in 2008, which provided boxing fans with one of the wildest KO’s in boxing history.

The bout took place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was contested at 170 pounds. This was a normal ESPN fight night bout, but went on to become an iconic fight only due to the knockout it served. Moreover, this fight would cement itself in boxing history, with the knockout being remembered for years.

ESPN Ringside recently posted the video of the knockout on their social media page. In the video, we can see Miranda landing a clean right hand on Banks, sending him halfway through the ropes. Moreover, instead of calling the fight off, the referee gave Banks the whole 10-count, which he unsurprisingly failed to make.

During the start of this fight, Banks looked in control for the first two rounds, showing his in-ring leadership. However, he would get caught with a right in the third, which finished the match. In addition, the fans were also quick to react to this brutal knockout and were left stunned by the referring.

One fan stated that Banks got up in time but the referee got in his way.

Another fan claimed that the referee counting, while Banks was halfway out of the ring, was unnecessary.

A fan also questioned why the referee even decided to go for a 10-count.

However, one fan hoped that Banks would retire from boxing after this vicious knockout.

Lastly, one fan praised Banks’ efforts to get back up despite being in no position to do so.

The fans were certainly not happy with the referee for counting and not ending the fight at that moment. Despite this, boxing has come a long way in terms of medical safety for fighters with findings revealing how the sport impacts male and female fighters, and this being the perfect example of when a fight should be stopped.
